My Story

Hi. I’m Wambui. My weight gain journey began in my mid to late 20s. At the time, I was living a busy yet sedentary lifestyle- one that slowly, but surely, led to piling on the kilos. When I bought my first car, I unknowingly reduced my daily movement. No more long walks or public transport hustle. I was driving everywhere.

Working in public relations only made things worse. My job requires me to attend events almost every week, each one featuring an endless spread of food and drinks. Then came the weekends, where my side hustle as a wedding cake artist meant I was constantly surrounded by cakes- tasting, decorating, and inevitably indulging.

Over time, the weight crept up on me. I was aware of it, and I genuinely tried to lose it. I tried every diet under the sun- keto, detox teas, egg diet, meal replacements, you name it. I even paid for countless gym memberships, hoping exercise alone would be the answer. And while I did manage to lose weight at times, it always found its way back. I felt trapped in a frustrating cycle of losing and regaining, never truly understanding what it took to keep the weight off for good.

That all changed when I discovered the connection between hormones and weight loss, particularly insulin. I learned that weight gain wasn’t just about eating too much or exercising too little; it was about how my body processed and stored energy. Once I understood this, I went further and understood how to eat the right foods that were hormonal friendly, at the right time and in the right quantities. This is when everything shifted. I wasn’t just dieting anymore. I was eating in a way that balanced my hormones.

In October 2023, I weighed 110kg. By October 2024, I had lost 42 kilos, and more importantly, I have finally figured out how to maintain it.
